A monumental Boulle mirror from the early 19th century

28500,00

Large, very rare mirror made using the Boulle technique. The carpenter used dark brown tortoiseshell. During restoration we discovered several details indicating that the object was made at the beginning of the 19th century at the latest, i.e.: cornice connected by hand-forged nails of square cross-section, joining of constructional elements, etc. The marquetry pattern itself is reminiscent of the design appearing during the French Empire period at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The glass was decorated using the verre eglomise technique - gold flakes were placed under the reflective layer.

An uncommon item on the antiquarian market.
