Toilette Boulle, bronzes by Henri Picard (1831-1864)
French Boulle dressing table made in the mid-19th century. The mirror is flanked by two Corinthian columns. This is an exceptional example of the Boulle style of furniture from the Louis XIV period. Of particular note is the top quality marquetry. Bronzes signed HPR (Henri Picard was a renowned bronze maker who worked in Paris from 1831 to 1864. Picard was famous for casting and gilding decorative objects of very high production quality. Picard's most important achievement was providing Emperor Napoleon III with decorative objects, several of which are still in the representative suite at the Musée du Louvre in Paris). The item is from the collection of Catherine Spencer Eddy Beveridge (1881-1970).
